I didn't realize this was still active, so on the slim chance you follow this or stumbled onto it looking for the English Footballer - my new website is ianesampson.com and my sketchblog is here. Check it out.

Here's one of the postcards I've been drawing lately. This one is inspired by Philip K. Dick's The Penultimate Truth. Reading Dick is fun, but involves a little sci-fi mumbo-jumbo translation. I'm sending most of them to friends, but a few I like too much and keep. Maybe I'll sell them sometime. I'll post more of them over the next couple weeks.

Patrick at Velocity Comics asked me to draw on this Wolverine & the X-Men #1 sketch cover as part of the ArtMission benefit for artist Kerry Talbot. The Richmond art community did a great job banding together to raise money to help Kerry pay the medical bills resulting from his recent brain cancer. I sent down a poster that sold in the show, and now we'll sell this book on eBay. It is also featured on Robert Goodin's Covered blog. Great old New Mutants cover, boring issue. This was a lot of fun to do.

This Is How We Do It
This is how comics get made. Writing and drawing is the fun part. And by we, I mean mostly Mandy, though I am getting the hang of the pamphlet stitch.
We'll be exhibiting at TCAF in sunny Canada this weekend hawking our books and being generally American. We have lots of copies of my last three books, including We Take the Bottom With Us, written by Tom Batten, which I am still quite proud of and which not enough people have read. The remaining copies of Mandy's pressure-printed ghost books will also be available, plus her little-seen mini-comic about ex-boyfriends. We'll be driving up with our friend Rob Ullman, the Richmond-based cartoonist and hockey enthusiast. Come buy all of our things and talk about comics with us! Did you read Prophet yet? Why not? It was awesome!
We had hoped to have new content for the show, but were a little sidelined by getting me into graduate school. I am excited to announce I will be pursuing my MFA in Studio Art at the University of Delaware starting this fall! They are going to lock me in a room and force me to make comics and prints all day, huzzah!

Here's my take on Moebius' Green Man for Electric Ant Zine's tribute to the great man. Check out the other awesome tributes on the blog!
